MISSION AND VALUES

Tierra Active School in Nature is a school based on Integral Education. Its mission is to accompany people in their growth, maturation and learning process, in coexistence and respect with our natural environment.

Tierra’s values are principles shared with the Human Rights contained in the Universal Declaration of Paris of 1948, and with the Rights of the Child updated in the year 2000, which are still in force today, and which we consider part of the objectives that guide us towards a more human world.

Tierra Active School in Nature is a school based on Integral Education. Its mission is to accompany people in their growth, maturation and learning process, in coexistence and respect with our natural environment.

We want to contribute and build together an educational community of people aware of the care of life around us to contribute to a fuller, balanced and respectful society in our home, the Earth.

Tierra’s values are principles shared with the Human Rights contained in the Universal Declaration of Paris of 1948, and with the Rights of the Child updated in the year 2000, which are still in force today, and which we consider part of the objectives that guide us towards a more human world.

Our intention is to treat them in a transversal and globalized way in all learning areas and in the daily life of the educational community through:

Freedom and Conscience:

We understand freedom as a fundamental right to choose and to be, being aware of the responsibility of our actions and the consequences involved in the freedom of choice.

Cooperation and Respect in the Community:

We aspire to be a Learning Community where starting from the needs, interests and individual decisions of the students, we achieve a coexistence based on dialogue, agreement and respect for the norms of the school, designed as a democratic and respectful basis for a harmonious coexistence.

Equity, Empathy and Diversity in an Inclusive Community:

To create an inclusive environment where each person, being unique, is respected as they are because of their functional, cultural or emotional diversity, offering equal opportunities in an equitable and fair manner, dedicating more attention to those who need it most in the diverse moments and contexts that may occur in the school.

Human Respect for Nature:

We want each member of the community to be aware of the responsibility and respect that our Home needs, understanding nature and living with it in a balanced way.

Innovation as Personal and Social Transformation:

Educational innovation is today one of the social aspects where evolution and social transformation is most appreciated. All over the world we know practices and examples of teachers, schools and families who have opted for pedagogical innovation and have successfully carried out great changes in the community and environments in which they live.
Tierra aspires, as a principle, to be part of this transformation and to be able to “Change education to change the world” (Claudio Naranjo, 2013).

Attending to Emotion, Experience, Reflection, and Research:

The mental part of our brain needs to be balanced with the emotional and bodily part in order to live in a more harmonious way in the world. We can become more conscious, compassionate, and responsible humans when we know what we feel, experience through the senses, learn through experience and play, and when we develop critical and reflective thinking.
